As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I am excited to share with you an important update regarding our school’s uniform policy for Kindergarten through 5th-grade students.
Beginning this academic year, we are implementing a uniform policy designed to create a positive and focused learning environment for our students. I would like to take this opportunity to outline the key details of our uniform policy and explain its benefits:
Uniform Policy Details:
Shirts: All shirts must be one solid color or heathered, without accent colors or striping. Pictures or words are not permitted, except for the DLM or DLCS logo (optional). Acceptable styles include collared, polo, turtleneck, mock turtleneck, short-sleeved, or long-sleeved. Brand logos are acceptable if smaller than a quarter.
Pants: Khaki-style pants or shorts in tan, black, or navy colors are required for both boys and girls. For girls, dress capris, skirts, jumpers, and dresses in the same colors are also permitted. Leggings with patterns or colors may be worn under dresses and skirts.
General Guidelines: All clothing must be free of holes, patches, frays, chains, or other embellishments.
Hair and Grooming Guidelines:
Boys: Hair must be kept neat with specific length guidelines for sides, back, and front. Earrings are not permitted.
Girls: Hair must be neatly trimmed and groomed. Extreme hairstyles and unnatural hair colors are not allowed. Makeup should be minimal and non-distracting.
Friday Free Dress Days: On Fridays, students may wear clean, modest attire appropriate for a Christian environment, including jeans, sweatpants, leggings under fingertip-length skirts, hoodies, dresses, and skirts. Shirts must not have inappropriate pictures or writings.
Benefits of Uniform Policy: Implementing a uniform policy supports our school’s mission to encourage a godly lifestyle and modest values among our students. By standardizing attire, we aim to:
Foster a sense of unity among students,
Reduce distractions and peer pressure related to clothing choices,
Promote a focus on academic and personal development rather than outward appearance.
We believe that these guidelines will contribute positively to our school’s atmosphere, reinforcing our commitment to excellence in both education and character development.
Should you have any questions or require further clarification regarding the uniform policy, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to assist and ensure a smooth transition as we approach the new school year. We have set up a school store at the link below where DLCS logo clothing attire and other school spirit items can be purchased should you desire.
